I DID IT!!! 🏄🏽‍♀️🫶🏽🏄🏽‍♀️ It was a team effort of course 🤭 …This was my VERY FIRST surfing today, and I rode several waves 🤙🏼 thanks to this crew: Marie, Ashely & Daniel!

My key Instructor (Daniel) helped me to face my fears during the process…He was excellent: very thorough surfing theory, encouraging, kind and a little strict which I appreciated (he doesn’t allow you to “give up”, even on the wooden practice board 😑🥲).

I’m still basking in the experience THANK YOU, team, and especially to Daniel for sharing his knowledge and passion for this sport. I guess I’m a surfer now! Until next time :)

There are multiple surf schools side by side on this beach and they all charge roughly the same price for roughly the same services. I choose Cabarete Surf Company over the other options and I think I choose correctly. The staff spoke clear English and appeared more customer satisfaction focused than profit focused. I showed up without an appointment and while they were willing to take me on at that time, they advised the conditions would not be good for a novice and that I should come back in the morning (low tide) if my schedule could accommodate. One thing that set their school apart from the others is their land lesson was on a rope suspended board. Others used a real surfboard stably lying on the sand. The suspended plank simulates the balance/ocean conditions better (and is probably a bit harder than the real thing). This shifts more of the learning curve to the land lesson (faster learning, less exhausting, easier to iterate on feedback). Vom ersten Moment an fühlt man sich hier willkommen – und zwar nicht nur mit einem Hallo, sondern wirklich mit einem herzlichen Handschlag. Innerhalb eines Tages wurden wir Teil der Surffamilie und in die Surfgemeinschaft aufgenommen.

Es macht unglaublich viel Spaß, gemeinsam zu surfen, zu lachen und Zeit miteinander zu verbringen. Besonders schön ist, dass es nicht nach der Surf stunde endet: Es wird sich auch danach Zeit für einen genommen, man sitzt zusammen, erzählt, tauscht sich aus und fühlt sich einfach Zuhause in einer vorerst fremden Surfschule
